After once dominating the basketball court with an unstoppable skyhook, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has kept his itinerary open for something that could prove just as far-reaching.
Forty-three years after leading the Milwaukee Bucks to a 1971 NBA championship, Abdul-Jabbar expressed interest in becoming part of the franchise’s ownership group.[pullquote cite=”Kareem Abdul-Jabbar” type=”right”]”The team very likely will change hands and there are a number of people that are interested. Milwaukee Bucks owner Herb Kohl has said he is seeking additional investers to create an ownership group to oversee a franchise that enters Thursday night’s game against the Lakers (24-46) at BMO Harris Bradley Center with the NBA’s worst record (13-58).
Both the Bucks and Kohl’s advisor Allen & Co., a New York City based investment bank, declined to discuss the impending sale and if Abdul-Jabbar would join any ownership group that eventually purchases the franchise that Forbes estimated is valued at $405 million.
