Deborah Morales is the founder, Chief Executive Officer, and award-winning visionary behind Iconomy Multi-Media & Entertainment, a company that helps world-famous athletes move from Success to Significance.
Ms. Morales is a pioneer and industry leader respected for her keen insights and strong work ethic to create unparalleled opportunities for her clients. Through her leadership, they learn to position themselves within the international marketplace – achieving personal financial success and meaningful philanthropic impact. In addition, Iconomy provides guidance for designing comprehensive estate planning, asset preservation, valuation of publicity rights and beneficial tax strategies.
For the past 30 years, Deborah has served as business manager, strategist and “iconomist” for the NBA’s 6x Champion and MVP, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, as well as other legendary athletes.
Iconomy has generated countless endorsement contracts, speaking engagements, personal appearances, publishing agreements, and consulting & coaching deals with prominent corporations and leading global brands. She has also created original trademarked IP products using her clients’ names, images and likeness rights.
Deborah also has guided the production and distribution of numerous best-selling books, audio soundtracks, TV series, special events and films that have won multiple awards, including NAACP Image Awards, Tellys, Emmys, as well as top writing honors. She executive produced HBO’s Emmy Award-winning, most-watched sports documentary of all time “Kareem: Minority of One.”
In addition to being the Executive Director of the Skyhook Foundation, she helped create the NBA’s Social Justice Champion Award. Ms. Morales worked closely with The State Department, which led to Secretary of State Hillary Rodman Clinton creating the one and only Cultural Ambassador title awarded to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Deborah also worked with The White House which resulted in President Barack Obama recognizing Abdul-Jabbar’s achievements on and off the court by giving him the nation’s highest civilian honor, The Presidential Medal of Freedom. Deborah also serves on the Advisory Board for UCLA Health.
