Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon. known for his grace both on and off the court. was a center for the Toronto Raptors and the Houston Rockets, where he led his team to two consecutive championships in 1994 and 1995. After emigrating from Nigeria to the U.S., Hakeem attended the University Of Houston where he and his teammates created what would later be known as
"Phi Slama Jama." a slam-dunking fraternity named for its dominance above the rim. During his time as a Cougar. Hakeem racked up honors such as: NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player. SWC Player of the Year. and First Team NCAA AP All-American. In 1995. Hakeem started his own nonprofit Dream Foundation. which helps deserving students achieve their dreams through higher education.
